Holocaust learning and morality

Shay Efrat

The research presented in this book is an innovating attempt to examine Holocaust Learning Programs and their influence on the formation of moral attitudes among Jewish-Israeli high school students.

The author aspires to fill a gap in knowledge relating to two major questions: first, what do Israeli high school students think about the way in which Jews coped with the moral dilemmas that they faced during and after the Holocaust? The second question attempts to discover what effect present high school Holocaust learning programs have on the formation of students’ moral attitudes.

The main aim of this research is to identify the level of agreement or disagreement with a variety of moral decisions of Jews during and after the Holocaust among Israeli high school students who participated in a Holocaust Learning Program, and to examine what moral lessons they may have gained from this learning.
